Mail Pieces for Imaginative Play

My daughter is always thinking of creative ways to engage my granddaughter in imaginative play. This week she asked me to create some fall themed mail pieces for her to play with her in her postage bag and "post office" cart. She has a cart that can be a bakery, library, ice cream shop, etc.

As I pondered what I could create, I came up with mini packages, postcards, and lots of cards.  A lot of the supplies I used were retired or past Paper Pumpkin items.  If you are like me, you have plenty of retired stash that you can put to good use.  I  have added a list of the current products I used in the projects at the bottom of my post.

Packages

The Paper Pumpkin kit, Good Things Come in Small Packages, had a little box that I used for holding postage stamps.  These were easy to create and she will love playing with them.

I also used the mini pizza boxes for mini packages. They are empty but I'm sure my granddaughter will find lots of items to "mail" to family and friends.

Letters

I used retired note card packages to create "letters" she could mail.  Do you remember any of these great prepackaged sets?

I also used a mini envelope and letter die to create a bundled set of letters. The Circle of Season acorn fit into one of the mini envelopes for a cute shaped note.

Postcards

The postcards were the most fun for me to make! I used my largest postage stamp die to create postcards for the mailbag. I used to love to receive postcards from family and friends when they were traveling, so I thought this would be a fun addition to her mail stash!

Do you ever create toys from your supplies? I've created counting games, matching cards, and lots of other engaging activities for my granddaughter and students in my classroom (I'm retired now).  If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them!

If Addie enjoys playing with these in her mail bag, I'll be making some Christmas themed ones as well.  The North Pole Delivery will be a great starting point for those!

Current supplies I used:

September Paper Pumpkin Kit - Fall for Toile Refill kit

More Than Autumn stamp set

Party Celebrations stamp set

Stay Warm stamp set
