One More Way to Add Texture to Your Cards!

Did you have a chance to read my last blog about adding texture to your cards and how it adds interest and depth? As I was creating a card for this week's Global Design Project, I remembered another way to add texture...dies with detailed texture lines!

The Impressions Abloom dies have blades that cut creases in the flowers and leaves, which add more texture. Then I used the small blending brushes to add ink color into the slits for more depth.

To begin, I cut an A2 card base from Basic Beige card stock. I cut two pieces of patterned paper from the Gathering Together DSP at 4 x 5.25. I adhered one to the front of my card base and stamped text from the Elements of Text stamp set with second generation Cajun Craze ink

With the other piece, I made a slit in the middle with scissors then tore the center out to create a frame with the white core revealed.  I added foam strips to the back of the frame and adhered it to the card front.

I cut lots of flowers and leaves with Crushed CurryCajun Craze and Pecan Pie card stock.  I assembled the flowers making sure no two colors were on the same flower and then adhered them to the card.  Some were glued directly to the base while others were placed with dimensionals.

I cut a stitched rectangle from Basic White card stock and stamped "Hello Fall" from the More Than Autumn stamp set.  I added some flat faceted dots and a double linen thread bow to finish the card.
