Have you ever tried doing an embossed resist card? It is fun to watch the image emerge and it creates an image that really stands out!
For my card today, I have created an embossed card using the A Child is Born stamp set and the Textured Notes dies. I began by cutting a rectangle from the die set with Basic White card stock, then I heat embossed the manger and star image on the die cut rectangle. On another sheet of white card stock, I embossed the lamb and donkey. I used white embossing powder for the image. I also used Versa Mark ink and a heat tool for the embossing.
Next, I used washi tape to hold the rectangle die to a scrap sheet of paper. I outlined the entire die sheet with washi tape. I ink blended Misty Moonlight ink of the stars, then Crushed Curry ink over the hay and Pecan Pie ink over the manger. The white embossed parts won't absorb the ink to create a resist. Once completed, I used a paper towel to wipe the ink off the embossed images.
In the stamp set, Mary is holding Baby Jesus and the manger is empty. I stamped a partial image of Mary, only capturing the Baby Jesus. I embossed it and fussy cut it out. Then I used an hobby knife to cut a slit in the hay to slightly insert the Baby Jesus image.
I stamped the sentiment, "For unto us a child is born" using Misty Moonlight ink, then I created a white splatter with some acrylic paint and water. Then used a splatter brush to sprinkle white splatter on the blue portion of the card.
Next, I ink blended Pecan Pie ink over the lamb and Pebbled Path ink (retired) over the donkey, once again wiping away the excess ink and causing the white image to pop.
I adhered the framed panel onto an A2 Basic White card stock. Then I moved on the inside of the card. I cut another rectangle from the Textured Notes dies. and adhered it to the inside of the card. Then I stamped "O Come Let Us Adore Him in Misty Moonlight ink and then fussy cut the lamb and donkey, making sure to leave a small border around the images to assure the white stands out.
I stamped the sentiment "O Come Let Us Adore Him" in Misty Moonlight ink and placed the animals below it.
I love the look of an emboss resist card. It is relatively easy yet so beautiful! If you haven't tried it, give it a try! I guarantee you will love the outcome!
