Have You Tried the Tiling Technique?

Have you heard of the tile technique? The technique gives the appearance of a tiled object with grout lines.

To get this look, simply use a scoring board or bone folder to score your card stock before you stamp on it. The image will only show up on the parts that are not scored, giving it a tiled effect.

For my card using this technique, I cut a Basic White A2 card base and stamped one of the fonts from the Elements of Text stamp set and a splatter stamp in Secret Sea ink.  I used second  generation stamping to achieve two different shades of the Secret Sea ink color.

Then I cut and scored horizontal and vertical lines every half inch on a stitched rectangle die image to create faux tiling.

I used the Impressions Abloom floral stamps to stamp on the stitched rectangle die cut image. Using solid image stamps with this technique gives a more prominent tile look.  The ink colors I used are Secret Sea, Shy Shamrock, Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight.

I mounted the stamped card stock onto two more rectangles, one in Secret Sea and  the other, Shy Shamrock.  I used a Paper Pumpkin sentiment on a stitched square for my greeting and added some In Color enamel dots in Shy Shamrock.

I hope you will give the tiling technique a try! It is a fun technique that adds lots of interest to your cards!
