Another Blue and Orange Fall Card

I love a blue and orange color combo. Do you know why these two colors work so well together? They are complementary colors, which means they are opposite each other on the color wheel.

For this card, I began with an A2 Pumpkin Pie card base and used a piece of Weekend Adventures DSP for the background cut at a quarter inch smaller than the card base.

My focal point is made up of the Patterned Tag dies and a watercolor background on the bottom layer of the tag portion. I used some extra watercolor pumpkin images I created for an earlier post and adhered them to the quilted tag cut in Copper Clay card stock (retired).

My sentiment is a past Paper Pumpkin stamp and the tag is from a retired die set. I used some Cajun Craze ribbon and a piece of Linen thread tied around it for my first embellishment and some new Earthy Matte dots that will be available in early November to finish it off.

Sneak Peek at Brushed with Beauty DSP

Are you ready to see some gorgeous DSP?  The color combo is soft and so pretty.  This paper will be available in early November so keep an eye out for it! It is called Brushed with Beauty.

I began my card today with a Calypso Coral A2 card base and added a front panel in the same color. I ran the panel through the Stamp, Cut and Emboss machine using a new embossing folder called Beautiful Pattern, also from the same upcoming release.

I used one of the DSP sheets to cut a panel for the left side of my card, then framed a different piece from the package in Mossy Meadow card stock.  I cut a circle from the Spotlight on Nature die set, then stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral ink and second generation Crumb Cake ink.  The stamp set is the retired Endless Birthday Wishes and it was the first photo polymer set SU! created.

I finished off the card with three Calypso Coral flat pearls, which will also be available in early November.

I created this card for the Global Design Project Sketch Challenge #518.  You can see others' cards using this same sketch by searching Instagram #gdp518.

Getting the Most Out of the New Three Banner Punch

I'm giving you a sneak peek at a new Online Exclusive product that will be available in early November.  I used it to create this cute nutcracker card and I love how the sentiments are stacked smaller to larger to resemble the shape of a Christmas tree!

I'm also going to give you a tip on how to use the punch efficiently to make the most of your crafting time!

Item #167050

For me, a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'm posting pictures of how I cut my sentiments for this card.  This time saving technique will make sentiment strips so easy to mass produce!

I stamped and heat embossed my sentiments, but you can use our Classic Inks to stamp your sentiments on white card stock as well.

You will definitely want to add this punch to your wish list as it is a handy one to have!

Simple vs Stepped Up...Set #4

Do you enjoy making simple or stepped up projects? If you are like me, you enjoy both! Sometimes it is nice to sit down and create some projects that are pretty but don't involve a lot of steps. Other times, I like to sit down and spend more time on a single card.  If you are like me, it depends on how much time I have and if I'm feeling really creative.

As I was thinking about it earlier this week, I thought it would be nice to have a selection of both types of cards focusing on a single stamp set. I have decided to do this project using the Gift of Joy stamp set.  This is a set in the September Mini Catalog that caught me attention the first time I flipped through the catalog. The simple drawings and two step stamping procedure are what caught my attention.

Tip: Two step stamping is the process of layering stamped images created to work together.

For my simple card, I repeatedly stamped the floral image around the edge of my card to create a floral frame. Then I stamped the sentiment directly onto the card front in Cherry Cobbler ink. Then I stamped three of the gifts, two directly on the card front, then one on another scrap of paper and fussy cut it out. I adhered it with a dimensional, slightly overlapping one of the other presents. To finish off the card,
I added a few of the Secret Sea faceted dots.

For the stepped up card, I stamped the floral frame again, but this time on a piece of dotted paper from the North Pole Delivery DSP. I stamped the sentiment in Secret Sea ink on Basic White card stock and used the Textured Note dies to cut it out. I adhered it to the center of the floral frame with multipurpose glue. Then I stamped and fussy cut some gifts to adhere to the card front.  I tied three small bows with twine and adhered them using mini glue dots. To finish the card, I used some gold shimmer paint from my stash to add a little sparkle to the centers of my poinsettias.

Free SU! Class Using the Nutcracker Tag Kit

I love using nutcrackers for decorating during the holiday season and now I'll be able to do some paper crafting with these beautiful iconic images!

On Nov. 1st, you can view a free crafting class as SU! demonstrators share alternative projects they have created with this cute all inclusive kit.

You can purchase the kit ahead of time and craft along with them or just watch and create later!

I have recently purchased the kit and am going to share a couple of my alternatives today. I had so much fun creating with these cut guys and am very excited to attend the SU! class.

If you want to purchase a kit, I have provided the link for you, Nutcracker Kit.  At only $14, you may want to order it soon, as it may sell out before the class on Nov. 1st.

For the first card, I cut a piece of green glitter paper to 5.5 x 4.25 and adhered it to an A2 Basic White card base. I cut a piece of the Elegant Pine Snowflake DSP  a quarter inch smaller and used Tombow glue to adhere it to the glitter paper. I cut a rectangular piece of silver paper, rounded the corners and used a scoring tool to add lines an eighth of an inch around the edge to resemble a cookie sheet. I created a lot of baking elements and my sentiment using the Homemade Treats Bundle.

I used one of the nutcracker tags to create my cookie.  I used a Stampin Blend Dark Pecan Pie marker to outline the image changing the green background to brown. I used a black glaze pen to color over the black details to resemble frosting piping.

To finish off the card, I used the adorable peppermint embellishments that add the perfect touch!

For my second card, I used the girl nutcracker from the kit, removing the tag portion.  I used the Elegant Pine Snowflake DSP  for my background on this card as well. My card base is the same as the one above only I used gold glimmer paper. I used the new Three Banner Punch (this will be available in early November in the Online Exclusives Store) to create my sentiments on Poppy Parade card stock and embossed with sentiments from the Gift of Joy stamp set.  I used a hole punch to cut some circles to use as embellishments to finish off the card.

I love how both of these cards turned out.  The Nutcracker kit is so cute! I'm looking forward to working with it more in the near future.

The class will be November 12 at 3 PM EST on SU!'s Facebook page. Be sure to mark your calendars now for a great time crafting with friends.

Simple vs Stepped Up...Set #3

Do you enjoy making simple or stepped up projects? If you are like me, you enjoy both! Sometimes it is nice to sit down and create some projects that are pretty but don't involve a lot of steps. Other times, I like to sit down and spend more time on a single card.  If you are like me, it depends on how much time I have and if I'm feeling really creative.

The simple drawings and two step stamping procedure are what caught my attention.

Tip: Two step stamping is the process of layering stamped images created to work together.

I began with a Very Vanilla A2 card base.  I stamped the outline of the box in Pecan Pie ink randomly over the card front. I also stamped several more to fussy cut out.  Then I stamped the inside striped image in Poppy Parade, Garden Green, Pool Party, and Petal Pink inks. I stamped the bows in the same colors but didn't match them to the presents.  I also stamped the "MERRY" sentiment randomly around the card.  I fussy cut the additional gifts and glued a few randomly over the front of the card.

I cut a piece of light pink velvet to place behind my sentiment that was stamped in Garden Green ink and placed some flat faceted dots randomly around the card to finish off the simple version of card #3.

Pages of Faith Monthly Scrapbook Post #1

What do you think of when you hear the word HARVEST? To me, I think of pumpkins, corn stalks and often times, a few of my favorite Bible verses.  So today, I've created a fall page that has the beautiful images of fall and also, verses that reflect the meaning of the harvest.

I began with a 12 X 12 piece of Cajun Craze two tone card stock. I stamped splatter and acorn images randomly around the page so it didn't appear so flat.  Then I cut a piece of the Autumn Toile DSP pumpkin paper at 4.5 x 12.  I torn it into two pieces and adhered them just shy of a half inch from each side. I also cut two Mossy Meadow two tone card stock strips at 12 x.5 and adhered them to the left and right sides of the page.

I adhered my photos on my page.  I cut the word "HARVEST" using the Mini Alphabet die and Autumn Toile DSP.  The banner it rests on is from the Stylish Shapes die set.  I used the leaves and frame from the September Paper Pumpkin kit.

The pumpkins and verse in the top right circle are from retired stamp sets.  The circle is also from the September PP kit.

I used my computer and a sheet of Basic Beige card stock to print the two Bible verses from Galatians 6:9 and Matthew 9:37-38.

I hope your fall is full of beauty and time with those you love!
